in consequence of the missive, I also wonder about Wickham's motives, penned by Anne-Marie
good companion, someone who did not take things seriously, apparently had no feelings of guilt and remorse about her actions, and could be molded to suit his needs. I can just see them as a pair of early 19th century grifters -- think Becky Sharp earning her living on the gambling circuit. And we can extrapolate that she probably was a willing sexual partner. There is also something to say about Wickham intending to blackmail her family at a later date, as he knows they have connections with money (the Gardiners, to Lady Catherine through their relationship to Mr Collins, and to Darcy also through Lady Catherine).
