Interesting queston   Written by Kathi (5/14/2010 8:14 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, I don't think I ever read it very carefully before, penned by Karen G
Are you new?

I think there are a number of possible reasons why Bingley didn't try to get Darcy and Caroline together.

Like Adrian, I don't think that kind of manipulation is in Bingley's nature.

Even if Bingley had been so inclined, he may not have seen Darcy and Caroline as being compatible. If Jane had not been in the picture, once Georgiana was a little older, it's not a stretch to see Georgiana and Bingley as being compatible, but I think the only people who could picture Darcy and Caroline together is Caroline (and maybe Louisa).

I wonder how much Bingley knew about Darcy's expectations for his future wife -- do you suppose he know that Caroline, with her low connections, would have been unacceptable to Darcy?
