definitely - referred to Darcy   Written by Karen G (5/12/2010 4:53 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, She related the particulars of all the pecuniary transactions, penned by Frances G
Are you new?

Either way, the note in the letter sends Elizabeth into confusion, but I can't imagine the confusion is of being insulted! After all, Lizzy treats it as a compliment

Elizabeth was at no loss to understand from whence this deference for her authority proceeded; but it was not in her power to give any information of so satisfactory a nature as the compliment deserved. (Ch. 48)

Lizzy and Gardiners had further discussion (Ch. 47) about Wickham and whether he was so dispicable or not.

Why would the word compliment be used if the reference was to Lizzy's relationship to Wickham? The compliment of knowing something more about a dispicable-acting man, regardless whether it would help or not?
