firmly believed and rejoiced in his domestic comforts   Written by Stephanie (5/12/2010 11:30 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Better Phrasing, penned by Robbin
Are you new?

I suppose that I foresee a marked improvement in Mr. Collins, and that he will never be totally right-minded.

Charlotte, intelligent, understanding of the problems before her, with a steady temper, and Mr. Collins's self-delusional trust in her love, will not fail of having an impact over time. Mr. Collins' decades-long-ingrained stupidity, ego-reinforced self-complacency, and constant exposure to Lady CatdB's class-consciousness and ironic lack of class will keep him from reaching the full potential that would reward Charlotte's approaches on anyone else.

She may prove me wrong, of course. She has a much more clear mental goal in mind than I usually do. And she will fare better with any young olive branch that comes along, being able to help them earlier and more intensely.
