Are you new?

...say that he wasn't willing to give Lizzy consequence by dancing with her -- he later wanted to give her even more consequence by marrying her.

Is not refusing to dance with Lizzy, in part, because he does not want to give her consequence putting his feelings about her in terms of snobbery?

If Darcy's decision that no one at the Assembly was interesting (without having met the vast majority of them) was not based on class consciousness, what do you think it was based on?
