By this time, the Gardiners have noticed that Darcy is interested in Elizabeth. Darcy went out of his way to invite Mr. Gardiner fishing after they were introduced, and he also initiated the meeting between Elizabeth and Georgiana, quite an honor. I am sure the Gardiners would not insult Lizzy.
