I itch to slap Lydia . . .   Written by Mary Anne (5/10/2010 8:09 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Selfish Lydia, penned by Anne-Marie
Are you new?

. . . at the moment of "'Ah, Jane, I take your place now, and you must go lower, because I am a married woman!'"

I know some people think she's a very funny character, but I'm afraid I don't see the humour. Selfish indeed, thoughtless, stupid to the bone, and with a fine nasty streak toward other women; see also "nasty little freckled thing" with regard to Mary King. And to think Mr. Bennet believed that Brighton would teach her her own insignificance! Nothing could penetrate that thick skull.
