...I often wish to envision Charlotte taking a frying pan to Mr. Collins and letting him know once and for all who's wearing the pants in the family. Of course I only approve of this sort of thing for fictional characters and admit that Georgian patriarchal society would make the resulting situation improbable considering Charlotte's financial position in the marriage (as opposed to LC's in hers).

Still, it's situations like Mr. C's letter to the Bennets that makes me wish for Charlotte to firmly take the marriage in hand, as cartoonish as the scenario might be. LOL
