I don't think shyness is a family trait. Georgiana is shy and embarrased and don't like being the center of attention. She is uncomfortable in social situations. Darcy is reserved, haughty, and perhaps introverted, but not shy. Darcy chooses not to talk to e.g. the Meryton people, not out of shyness but because he doesn't want to give himself the trouble (Ch. 31)
