The odious Mr. Collins   Written by Cheryl (5/9/2010 11:09 p.m.)
Are you new?

The letter that Mr. Collins writes to Mr. Bennet after Lydia has run off is just horrific. I know that Nan Duval is focusing on letters in P&P, so I won't go into much detail, but the callousness, gloating and sheer, appalling hatefulness in this letter really set me back on my heels. "The death of your daughter would have been a blessing in comparison of this." Good grief!

He is completely despicable and Charlotte comes off badly as well, a real disappointment to those of us who like her.
