to allow Lydia to go to Brighton IMO is no less negligent than any of his other decisions regarding his daughters. That it is imprudent (and Lizzy sees it, particularly after reading Darcy's letter and seeing another's honest point of view) I don't mean to dispute. I just don't see that it is much different than any of Mr. Bennet's other decisions, and it is not surprising to me given the circumstances. :)
