Lizzy was treating Darcy...   Written by Karen G (5/9/2010 7:23 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, That piece you quoted: 'forget what she could not overlook', penned by Tom P2
Are you new?

...in a way that he was treating her - with blunt honesty - and she was also forced to show her hand so-to-speak; to address the reason for why she was rejecting him.

Although the narrator states that Lizzy endeavors to forget what she cannot overlook, I think Lizzy cannot completely forget. I can see that probably due to observations of her parents' marriage and their dissimilarities with a lack of respect at least on one side [her father's], it has caused her to repine from thinking of marrying for convenience only - neither to Mr. Collins or to rich but rude Mr. Darcy. The alternative is to be like Charlotte, making the most of it, but I think she may be too much like her father, who wouldn't be able to conceal forever her lack of respect for her partner.
