that Pen (whose presence I did register) was not directly involved in the plan, being one of the souls who did not know about it, but the wording is somewhat ambiguous and I accept that your reading is quite as valid and possibly more so. Though it's slightly odd that Kitty would step aside from an active role in favour of letting Pen do it.

While we are at it I made it not quite 5 weeks that Elizabeth had been at Hunsford when Darcy proposed, but near enough that I won't quarrel with rounding it up.
