poor Georgiana would never have heard the end of it. It would be no use just staying away from Rosings because her Ladyship would come to London or even Pemberley to make her displeasure known to her niece. And Lady Catherine would undoubtedly have seized every chance to point out to Darcy that her niece, lacking a mother, clearly needed a sister-in-law whose conduct was exemplary and that Anne would never contemplate eloping with a rogue (chance would be a fine thing), and would feel no compunction about doing so in Georgiana's presence.
