Yes, Mr. Bennet was to blame. He should have acted differently. He was wilfully blind when Lizzy tried to talk him out of letting Lydia go. He should have at least seen that her point about the family's resepctability was valid. Still, as I said before, he did not expect any real evil to come of it. Why should he have?
