I don't believe that Elizabeth would automatically think of Darcy's insult every time she heard or spoke the word "tolerable" (or the words "handsome" or "tempt" or "slighted" or "consequence," inter. al.). But it is possible that JA intended the reader to see a sort of reflection back to the beginning of the novel.

Elizabeth might have already forgiven Darcy's initial insult, although he never apologized for it, but I don't think this is necessarily an indication of it.
