With such kind of histories   Written by Stephanie (5/7/2010 12:41 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, What did Darcy think the Colonel knew?, penned by Christopher
Are you new?

Since this has come up, I do sometimes toy with the idea that the Colonel suspected Elizabeth might know the people involved. Either he thought she would be very interested, guessing from his story which name to put with the characters, or she might agree that Bingley was a man who might 'get into a scrape of that sort' -- either of which would continue a sporting conversation with her. I think he does know that Darcy was staying with Bingley when he met Elizabeth for the first time.

But then I think of how the Colonel is sketched as sensible, and trusted by Darcy, and it does not seem likely. *sighs* Oh, well.
