You're Welcome! although there's nothing wrong with seeing him as witty. His issue is that he uses his gift of humor inappropriately which only underscores his irresponsibility which was imo JA's intention---a technique she used as part of her characterization of him. And I know what you mean about the adaptations. I was overly influenced by them myself.
