Pardon me, but I meant Charlotte's attitude, temper, and sense when I spoke of her bringing a better hand to the table. Elizabeth could never have handled Mr. Collins: she was quite right in what she said to him - they could NOT have made each other happy. Charlotte is much more capable of making Mr. Collins happy, and choosing her own level of happiness than Elizabeth.

In short, Elizabeth's refusal was right for Elizabeth. Charlotte's may be wrong for her, but only time will tell. Right now, it seems to be under good regulation.
