I demand it of your justice Written by Frances G (5/4/2010 11:52 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, "Be not alarmed, Madam", penned by nan duval

Thank you for pointing out that this sentence compliments Elizabeth on her rationality. "You must pardon the freedom with which I demand your attention; your feelings, I know, will bestow it unwillingly, but I demand it of your justice."

I have always felt that it was somewhat condescending to "demand" her attention. But this perspective sheds an entirely different light on the sentence.

I'm so glad I discovered RoP -- I'm continuously learning new things about books I've read dozens of times.
