I do not think she did as well for the end of Volume One. I mean, '...it had actually been hinted that Colonel Forster was going to be married.' ?!?!?! Some guy we heard mentioned a couple of times and has never had a sentence attributed to him yet? This is an excellent set of characterizations in the Bennett family, and a nice pointer to the truism that life goes on without you when you are away, but as a cliff-hanger it fails dreadfully.
