I thought Darcy made it clear here:

"If you have not been mistaken here[ about Jane's regard for Bingley], I must have been in an error. Your superior knowledge of your sister must make the latter probable."

that Elizabeth's opinion trumps his own. He only reserves the right of his mistake being understandable, because of Jane's serenity of countenance.
