...by suggesting Darcy should also have "lied" by omission (if that's what Charlotte did)?

This is one of the questions that puzzles me. Was Charlotte right to keep silent about Mr. C's deficiencies or her less than perfect regard, or was Darcy's self-destructive approach the model Charlotte should have followed?

It seems people (not you specifically) want to have this issue both ways but do not want to distinguish Wickham's materialism from Charlotte's (if it can be distinguished). Wickham at least can earn a living more easily than Charlotte can, so Wickham has less need to marry money.
