You misunderstood me: I was implying that Darcy would have had more success had he omitted certain truths. He still would have been refused, but Elizabeth's anger would not have been raised, and possibly they could have spoken rationally instead of with vitriol and contempt for each other. As it was, everything he said lowered him in her esteem further, and quickly made them resort to hurtful and acrimonious accusations.
