but problems in relationships are not as serious, imo, for those couples who have a true meeting of the minds & hearts, as they are for intelligent people who make such a life-changing decision for mercenary purposes. (Or for purposes of passion w/o reason, such as Lydia Bennet does, for that matter.)

I like Charlotte Lucas, and I think she's a character with whom I could have been friends -- that's one of the reasons I am worried for her. Charlotte's future may not be all doom-and-gloom, but I cannot believe that she will be happy nor content for long being married to Mr Collins. And that's my (slightly) moderated take. :-)
