Does a gross double standard (kinder towards Bingley...) count?   Written by Tom P2 (5/2/2010 7:14 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Deception in Ch. 29-34 (long), penned by Connie
Are you new?

The line "Towards him I have been kinder than towards myself" (ch34) flabbergasts me every time. How was Mr Darcy ever going to face Mr Bingley again, if Elizabeth had accepted him?

Something like this? "I say, old bean, do you remember that I urged you not to marry into that dreadful Bennet family? Now, you're going to laugh, but I'm engaged to Miss Elizabeth. The difference is that, (A), you picked the wrong one, and (B), I did a better job of charming mine. Bygones?" Please, somebody, tell me there's a better way.
