No he's not said to be physically repulsive, but he is an unpleasant person, witht neither intelligence, charm, wit, social graces nor any idea of how to behave towards a woman...I find ti hard to beleive that an intelligent woman would be able to overlook his many deficiencies even if he were handsome - espsicaly since Charlotte's only motivation for putting up iwht him as a comapnion and a husbad is her desire for financail security. Is a man who is so clumsy and graceless in public very likely to be any differnet in private?

Col FItzwilliam is not handsome but he's intelligent, amusing, kind hearted and has good mannners, so he has plenty to compensate for his lack of good looks...
