|It was business rather than pleasure, certainly

in consequence of the missive, Perhaps there were..., penned by Reeba
In Chapter 32: Mr Darcy's visit occurred while "Mrs. Collins and Maria were gone on business into the village." I thought this "business" might have something to do w/ shopping or other Hunsford Cottage business. Since this is not described further, you are free to speculate as you wish, but there still aren't any people that we know of w/ whom Charlotte can actually have an intelligent conversation.
I was also thinking of this quote from Chapter 30: "Their other engagements were few, as the style of living of the neighbourhood in general was beyond the Collinses' reach." So there are gentry families besides Lady Catherine & her daughter in the neighbourhood, but the Collinses are not wealthy and/or high status enough to socialize with them. Some of these people might be educated and/or intelligent but evidently Charlotte won't be meeting or talking to them.
