I she in love with security?   Written by Connie (4/29/2010 12:27 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Charlotte's design (Ch. 32), penned by Karen G
Are you new?

In post #44522 yesterday, Stephanie pointed out how Jane's thoughts revolve around Bingley, showing how she had fallen for him, while Lizzy thinks and talks of many things that have no relationship to Wickham. This brought back fond memories of when I fell in love with my (future) dh, and my thoughts were constantly running on him.

Now we find that Charlotte is seeing even her best friend's possible suitors in light of how they could help advance Mr. Collins' career. This could show that her thoughts were taken up entirely by Mr. Collins' well-being, but we know that she tried to avoid his company and closed her ears to many things he said. She is clearly not dwelling on Mr. Collins most of the time, if she can help it. So, my question is, is she thinking of everything from a mercenary perspective? Is she in love with economic security?

I am ducking behind my computer now at anticipated responses. :)
