I noticed while catching back up that in Caroline's invitation to Jane in Chapter 7 she mentions that the gentlemen had gone to dine with the officers. If this is true how is it that Mr. Darcy was so shocked to find Wickham in the regiment later when he was with all the Miss Bennets and Mr Collins?
