Mrs. Gardiner must also realize that Mr. Bennet is the parent Lizzy is most attached to. For all the faults of both parents, it's probably apparent to Mrs. G. that her niece relies on her father's support and camaraderie. Just because Mr. Gardiner is Mrs. B's brother doesn't mean the Gardiners are 'sympatico' with her in all instances (by a long shot!!) In fact, if they were, we'd have a very different view of them, I'm sure!
