Well, really, Connie...   Written by gianni (4/27/2010 10:42 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Deception in Ch. 24-28 (long), penned by Connie
Are you new?

...I can't accept the idea that Jane is "taking after her mother".

Mrs. Bennet's insensibility is altogether selfish -- even her mania to get her daughters married off is selfish, to my mind.

Jane's insensibility is altogether unselfish. She accepts fault herself for the Bingleys' misbehavior. She can't accept that either Darcy or Wickham can be as bad as one has to be for the story Wickham tells. And so on.

Lizzy's insensibility is altogether vain, as several have already pointed out here.

Charlotte's insensibility is altogether purposeful -- again, to my mind.

Collins's insensibility ...

And so on. What an illuminating message! Thanks.

:-)
