oops sorry about the off reference   Written by Aaron (4/27/2010 3:00 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, "already a burden to her parents", penned by kathleen (elder)
Are you new?

I did quote P&P3 unfortunately I'm on a P&P overload, watching the movies while reading the books and then I never mingle with the computer. I have to write my notes for discussion. I still think that Charlotte would be relieved to have said proposal. Mr. Collins gave her an opportunity to have her own house and own life and she says so in the book. As for trying to steal Mr. Collins at the Netherfield ball, I think that was a happy accident, maybe thats when she got the notion that maybe Mr. Collins was a catch for her, she is all to willing to help, yet she doesn't act until she is sure Lizzie has said no. Kudos to her for that. I inflict a bit of 21st century thinking into the idea that she may have had alternative thoughts for cozying up to Mr. Collins at Netherfield ball, but if there wasn’t some thought of putting the characters together in the end would JA have even mentioned that Charlotte was an aid to Lizzie in the handling of Mr. Collins?
