turning down her own engagement   Written by Aaron (4/27/2010 1:48 a.m.) in consequence of the missive, Women had to marry?, penned by kathleen (elder)
Are you new?

JA's engagement was turned down, perhaps in writing both sides of the story she fulfills herself. One way she sees herself as Lizzie, turning down an undesired man, and on the other hand she sees herself a Charlotte accepting a life with a man even if she isn't head over heels for him. For her own ends maybe that was a way for her to work out her own mind. I think we can all agree that we prefer ourselves as Lizzies but in the end how many Charlotte decisions do we make?
