I am sorry I was not clear: we have little chance of seeing if Caroline Bingley is attached or not. We see Miss Bingley through Elizabeth's eyes, and Miss Bingley is not about to expose her inner feelings to Elizabeth if she can help it!

I was merely saying that if Miss Bingley were in love, I tend to think that it was not the 'real' Darcy to whom she was attached. She is trying for a return of her attentions and seems to miss by quite a bit, and sometimes, does not even seem to know that she missed.

I do not believe the text gives me a good enough picture to tell if she were genuinely fond of Darcy or not. I rather hope she is not for her sake, as I do not see much sign of her succeeding at this point.
