I don't think he got it from his father Written by RobertaK (4/24/2010 8:11 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Do we know if Mr. Bennet inherited the estate from his father?, penned by Graciela

The reason I say this is Mrs. Bennet grew up in Meryton as her father was a lawyer there. Mr Bennet did not know her long before he married her. If he or his father lived a mile or 2 from Meryton, he would have known her a long time.
