If Mr Bennet Sr died after Mr Bennet came of age, we can.

Only if Mr. Bennet Sr. was willing to break it. His father's unwillingness would be the most likely reason for Mr. Bennet to need a son to break it. He would then be blameless for the entail (though entirely blameworthy for the rest of the trouble).
