My question was about whether you thought Charlotte was lying or rationalizing when she said she had never been romantic. If she wasn't, then Charlotte and Elizabeth had never had similar attitudes toward marriage.

Whether or not one would describe Lizzy's ideas about marriage as romantic, she does seem to believe that there should be respect and affection between marriage partners. If Charlotte is telling the truth, she never believed that, even when she was younger.
