in consequence of the missive, Angling for Mr. Collins, penned by Line
I noticed Charlotte taking the time to converse with Mr. Collins, but I could not decide if she was doing more than the OTHER piece of advice she had opined in Elizabeth's hearing: "Do not let personal opinion make you appear unpleasant in the eyes of a man of any consequence in the world."
I do wonder if AFTER the Netherfield Ball she was when she first started trying for him. Had she caught his attention, Elizabeth might never had had to sit through that insulting proposal scene (and we might have had less of a chuckle!). I just can not convince myself that she was already being encouraging to Mr. Collins at the ball. Do any of you feel certain of when Charlotte's plan began?
