Women had to marry? Written by kathleen (elder) (4/23/2010 8:06 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Charlotte marries for security, penned by Aaron

Then why did JA (also at age 27, btw) turn down an eligible proposal? JA's family was not wealthy, and marriage would have meant security, yet JA said no -- so she must not have agreed that "women had to marry."
