I agree with Aaron that she started being quite friendly with Mr. Collins at the Netherfield ball. On the day Lizzy turns down Mr. Collins, Charlotte comes to Longbourne and is detained by Mr. Collins' minute inquiries about her family, which indicates to me that he has started to show some interest in her. It's interesting how closely Charlotte answers the description Lady Catherine gave Mr. Collins of the sort of woman he should marry -- a gentlewoman but not brought up in an extravagant manner, one who would be able to make the most of their income.
