I believe Elizabeth has no reason to suspect Mr. Collins CHARACTER. She certainly thinks ill of his mental powers, but character problems would imply that he was cruel, has a bad temper, could not resist temptations, or act the gentleman in dealing with others.
Even Charlotte, listing the good of her engagement to Elizabeth, considers "[...] Mr. Collins's character, connexions, and situation in life [...]" to be guarantors of her happiness in marriage.
