to retain a "child-like" existence? And do you believe that every unmarried woman who lived w/ her family did the same? I disagree.

There is nothing in the text to indicate that Charlotte chose marriage to leave her "child-like existence." Charlotte's choice of marriage regardless of the intelligence of your spouse seems, to me, to be mercenary. And I don't like to see an intelligent, likeable character act in a mercenary fashion.

And since it is unlikely that we shall ever agree, I shall have done. :-)
