will be dire only if Mr Collins dies before Mr Bennet and leaves no son. Probable but not too likely. In any other circumstance Charlotte will be quite well off.

As regards Mr C's companionship it is really not something to look forward, of course. But if compared with the option of keeping in her own home... actually there is a little discussion of this above in this thread, by Jeffrey, Cheril and myself, you could join in there.
