The poor young lady is caught in the netherworld somewhere between her disinterested father and her hysterical mother. She's neither pretty nor socially aware....qualities that her sisters have in some degree or other. Imagining a marriage between Mary and Mr. Collins would probably be akin to watching the blind leading the blind. Can you just imagine?
