Perhaps future children were in her mind, but I can not wholly discount any benefit from her husband-to-be's needs in that area. Even in his interactions with Lady Catherine, surely her composure and gentle advice might be useful for keeping both LC and Mr. C happy with one another. And Charlotte must understand LC and conform to her ideas when they meet, too, in order to make Mr. C comfortable. I think she has her work cut out for her!
