] I can't blame her for choosing Mr Collins. He IS stupid and pompous but Charlotte has got quite used to those qualities in her home and know how to deal with them.

Oh, this is funny. I hadn't thought of that before, but yes, she's used to living with Sir William et al, so Mr Collins isn't that great a step away from what she's already been dealing with, and at least now, she'll have some say in domestic matters.
