I think our intolerance with Mr Collins is exagerrated because of his image they made in adaptations - he is certainly physically disgusting there. In the book his faults are of intellect, and I don't think Lizzy is supposed to have any mental image of having sexual relationship with him, either for herself or Charlotte. What repells her is his company, not bed :)


So, if Charlotte really feels able to endure him as constant companion she is well off.
