...I counter that, one, Lizzy is just a daughter, and not a particularly highly-regarded one (by Mrs. Bennet, at least); two, that Mr. Bennet had both spousal authority and lots more time to use it, even if Lizzy had had the same power.

And I did say "helped", not "cured" :-).
