seriously commended Mr. Collins for having spoken so sensibly   Written by Stephanie (4/19/2010 10:28 p.m.) in consequence of the missive, Very good, Robbin, but..., penned by gianni
Are you new?

I do not know that Mrs. Bennett would have been improved by more attention. After all, Elizabeth gives her very logical advice, phrased to play perfectly to her main concerns:

"For heaven's sake, madam, speak lower. -- What advantage can it be to you to offend Mr. Darcy? You will never recommend yourself to his friend by so doing."

and gets practically the opposite effect she wants, for Mrs. Bennett does not only NOT listen, but then scolds Elizabeth audibly, snubbing Darcy as she does so!

A daughter is not a husband, but still... "Outlook not so good," as my Magic 8-Ball says!
